Abstract

Epoch developments is followed by technological developments. One of the phenomenon happened in society is the appearance of social media which have an important role in society, including business. Social media becomes a tool to improving brand awareness. Brand awareness is an important thing for every business, especially hotel business. Percy (1987) said brand awareness is an important thing because without it, there is no communication and transaction. Brand awareness become a guarantee for a concumer to getting a quality as they expect for. If they meet their expetations, it will trigger them to having a proudness as a consumer. This research was made to knowing the role of social media for a hotel business. This is a qualitative descriptive reserach with doing some interviews and observation. This research shows that social media has a big impact for a hotel business. Brand awareness also has an important role to guarantee the quality of the product. In digital era, brand awareness can be improved by many ways of marketing, including social media. A high quality of a brand giving a proudness to the consumer when they use it and it also trigger them to giving a positive feedback.
