Abstract
Startup dilihat sebagai bisnis dangan potensi besar dan hasil yang menjanjikan karena startup menunjukkan persaingan yang lebih dinamis dan menawarkan produk yang tepat sasaran. Namun, CB Insight (2019) menyebutkan bahwa tingkat keberhasilan startup masih serendah 10%. Mantan Menteri Komunikasi dan Informasi (2019) menyebutkan bahwa tingkat keberhasilan startup di Indonesia hanya 5%. Sudah terdapat terlalu banyak kerugian startup di Indonesia. Ide dan produk yang baik memang penting namun tidak menjamin kesuksesan dan keberlanjutan permintaan. Tantangan eksternal memiliki pengaruh yang besar terhadap kesuksesan startup karena sulit untuk diprediksi dan dihindari. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisa tantangan eksternal yang dihadapi startup di Indonesia dan bagaimana hal tersebut mendorong keberhasilan startup. Pendekatan metodologi yang digunakan adalah kualitatif melalui wawancara tidak terstruktur dengan melibatkan beberapa startup Indonesia dari sektor fintech, kesehatan, logistik, pertanian, pengelolaan limbah, dan air. Penelitian ini mempelajari bagaimana tantangan di akuisisi pasar, pendanaan, kualitas SDM, fasilitas (infrastruktur dan SAO), regulasi dan pemerintah mendorong keberhasilan startup. Penelitian ini menemukan bahwa setiap tantangan memiliki peran besar terhadap keberhasilan startup meskipun bagaimana pengaruh dari tiap tantangan mungkin berbeda dari satu sektor dengan sektor lainnya.
